MoCoLife 910 Hosts Its 2nd Annual Community Unity Day

MoCoLife 910 Hosts Its 2nd Annual Community Unity Day

On Saturday, August 12, we hosted our 2nd Annual Community Unity Day.  The event took place at Deaton-Monroe Park in Biscoe, NC.  We knew when we were planning this event that we wanted it to be bigger and better than last year.  On the day of the event, we were all on edge because it was so gloomy outside.  Every town and city surrounding us were getting rain so we were nervous we would have to cancel.  It turned out to be one of the most beautiful days of the summer.

Staff and volunteers worked tirelessly to sort through school supplies and set up tables in preparation for the family’s arrivals.  With the event scheduled to begin at 10am, families began arriving well before.  Many members of the community came out to show their support and bring additional donations.

Children ran around playing football, basketball, hula hoops, and on the merry-go-round while parents enjoyed music and conversation with other families.  Saturday was an amazing day to be able to give back to so many little smiling faces.

We were able to provide stuffed backpacks for over 100 children and fed well over 200 people.  It was a joy to us all to be apart of such an amazing event.  We think the adults had way more fun than the children.  We are already looking forward to next year!!

Unity March 2016

On August 13, 2016, we hosted our first annual MoCo Life 910 Unity March and Back to School Drive.  We would like to thank all of our supporters for numerous donations and service throughout the day.  We would also like to send a special THANK YOU to the Biscoe Police Department for their presence at the event and the East Montgomery High School Football Team for marching with us.

These days Unity isn’t a very strong word.  Somehow we’ve forgotten what it even means.  With all of the violence against one another and our friends and family losing their lives from senseless acts of violence, unity is the farthest thought from our minds.  We are beginning to harbor negativity towards those who are meant to protect and serve or trying to find a suitable place to point the blame for all of the darkness.

At MoCo Life 910, we feel that it is important for us to create unity in our communities and not division so we decided to put our words into action.  We have officially planned our first annual Unity March on August 13, 2016.

The Unity March is geared towards creating solidarity between our community members and county/city/town officials.  Upon completion of the March, we wanted to continue the vision of unity by bringing the community together at the park where our volunteers will work to provide free food, water, and school supplies for the Montgomery County Residents in attendance.

The success of this event will be credited largely to our sponsors and volunteers who lend their names, financial support, and time to this event. The money we raise will help fund the materials and resources needed to make this event a success.   For more information about how you can support this event, we can be contacted by email at mocolife910@gmail.com.
